This simple tip can save you from having a accident and costing your thousands in costly body damage repairs $$$$$.

Tire pressure is important for a number of reasons but today I am going to focus on just one. Take a look at the photo of how tire inflation effects how much of your actual tire is touching the ground.

The more tire tread that is touching the ground the more traction you will have. We need all the traction we can get when it starts raining like it did last night.

What is the proper tire pressure for my car?

On most newer cars the tire pressure is posted on a sticker in the drivers door jam. Just open the drivers door and look for a sticker that says tire pressure. The sticker could be on the door itself or the body side of the door jam. Your owners Manuel will also have the correct tire pressure for your

vehicle. On older vehicle a general rule is 32 – 34 psi of air pressure.

How Do I check my air pressure?

On some newer cars you can look at the air pressure reading from your dash board, more and more cars have a menu so you can see the air pressure in all the tires. If you don’t have that feature you will need a tire pressure gauge which you can get at your local auto parts store or on amazon. A tire pressure gauge does not have to be fancy to do a good job. A simple pencil type mechanical gauge like the one pictured will do a great job.

How often should I check my tire pressure?

I think it would be a good idea to check your tire pressure every time you fill up with gas. As your car is filling up with gas take you handy tire gauge and check the pressure in all the tires. If one of the tires is low, most gas stations have a place to add air.
